Again in my "fashion " mode I sewed up some Sicilian style fabric into a skirt today. Can't wait to wear it with my Sicilian jewelry.

More Monreale
I some how lost my tourgroup when I was looking for more images to paint. I met a couple from Santa Fe NM looking out on this view. I also photographed the scene and worked up this watercolor. Look for it soon on Etsy.com/shop/kathleengwinnettart,
Last week I completed two more paintings from Monreale.I believe it is one of the most visited hilltowns in Sicily. While our tour guide Diana Mazza spoke about the history and the art of the interior of the cathedral, I sat and did a colored pencil sketch, and listened to the talk on my ear phones. The first image is that image and the second a watercolor I did in my studio from a photo I took.

I saw beautiful flowers driving up to Mount Etna and in the Catania area. I never imagined the volcano's ashes could produce such a display. Cactus are found throughout Sicily. However I was so impressed by the huge display of blue morning glory among the cactus plants. This watercolor was painted from my memory of the scenes.

Warm weather in North Carolina, but nice breezes, the last two days. Did some gardening on Saturday but then finished this painting.
Capers plant on street of Savoca Sicily. I was delighted to find a plant that produced capers, a favorite to use in my cooking .. I found a few flowers that were fading so I embellished the painting with more florals.

Walking through Ortigia, the old section of Siracusa Sicily this June, was a wonderful experience. My husband and I
had driven through the area many years ago, unable to find a parking space. The building I illustrated is seen at the entrance to the island. Bought some lovely earings in the old market.

Fountain at Monreale Cathedral
As you can see I am interested in Sicilian fountains. I found a place to sit to paint this image, however the Sicilian Sun was too strong and I had nothing to cover myself with. So I made many photographs as I ate my "arincina."Ragusa Street Scene
I was so excited to visit Ragusa the home of Montalbano Mysteries.
This beautiful baroque city was everything I thought it would be.

It has been five years since I've posted on this blog. Want to begin new posts from my recent (2018) travels and paintings of Sicily.
Traveling on my 6th voyage to Sicily, for my first time, I traveled with a tour group from the Arba Sicula organization in New York..
We visited towns and cities counter clockwise around the island beginning in the Provence of Palermo and ending in Messina province.
Palermo Cathedral
The tour was everything I hoped it would be. Since my return I have immersed myself in my watercolors from the images of the new and familiar places I have seen of my beloved Sicily..Gardens Of Hotel Della Valle Agrigento
View from the pool of Hotel Baglio Oneto Marsala
For info about ordering images email me at Kgwinnett@att.net
